Advanced Scene Study

This high-paced master class is designed for working professionals and experienced actors tackling complex material from America’s finest playwrights. Students work on modern realism scenes, exploring epic plays rooted in strong universal ideas.

The approach begins with comprehensive text analysis, examining every word in relation to the play’s central themes and character relationships within past and present circumstances. Students build a complete relationship with the physical environment, including props and costume, to live authentically within the play’s world.

Actors then advance to performance-level work using foundational tools: actions, justification, partner listening, and imagination. The focus shifts to moment-by-moment choices, balancing Acting’s two essential truths—the truth of the past and its effect on the truth of the present.
